Driver Caught Hiding After Hit-and-Run Crash in Riverview; Faces Multiple Charges

RIVERVIEW, FL — A 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges after attempting to flee the scene of a crash witnessed by a Hillsborough County deputy on the afternoon of July 10, 2025.

The incident occurred around 3:37 p.m. near Gibsonton Drive and Fern Hill Drive. A deputy observed a crash involving a white SUV with front-end damage. As the vehicle tried to leave the area, deputies followed it until it came to a stop.

A male exited the still-moving SUV and fled on foot toward Alafia Preserve Avenue. Deputies located the suspect shortly afterward hiding in a breezeway of a nearby building, attempting to pose as a resident. A shirt matching the one he was seen wearing during the crash was discovered stuffed behind a trash can.

The suspect, identified as Marlon Mullins, was taken into custody and charged with:

  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Armed Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Driving While License Revoked, Habitual Offender
  • Resisting Officer Without Violence
  • Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage

The investigation remains ongoing.
