On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 9:21 a.m., Lake City Police responded to a civil disturbance call at 929 NE Maple Lane. Upon arrival, officers learned that during a verbal altercation, 59-year-old Gregory Udolph Stockton allegedly produced a short-barreled shotgun from a gray bag, pointed it at his spouse, and threatened, “The only way you’re leaving is in a body bag.”
Stockton fled the scene on a pink bicycle before officers could detain him. A perimeter was set up, and with help from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, police searched the residence but did not locate Stockton.
A search warrant executed later uncovered a loaded short-barreled shotgun with six shells inside a gray bag matching the victim’s description, along with sixteen additional shells. Stockton now faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. He remains at large.
Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler praised the swift police response and SWAT assistance, emphasizing the ongoing effort to apprehend Stockton before further harm occurs.
