Detectives with the Gainesville Alachua County Drug Task Force (GACDTF) have arrested Donray Byrd, a convicted felon and known drug trafficker, following a months-long investigation into suspected drug activity.
A joint operation involving the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), Gainesville Police Department (GPD), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) led to search warrants being executed on a residence and multiple storage units linked to Byrd.
Authorities seized:
- 7 firearms
- 1,014 grams (1 kilogram) of fentanyl
- 2,493 grams (5.5 pounds) of methamphetamine
- 2,976 grams (just under 3 kilograms) of cocaine
- 1,734 grams (1.7 kilograms) of substituted cathinone, or “Molly”
- 23 pounds of cannabis
- 13 grams of oxycodone
- $120,700 in U.S. currency

Byrd was charged with 10 felony offenses and his bond was set at $1.6 million.
Alachua County Sheriff Chad Scott stated, “The quantities of dangerous drugs recovered in this investigation represent countless lives that could have been destroyed in our community. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, along with our partners at GPD and DEA, will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt drug trafficking operations and hold offenders accountable. The peddling of deadly poison in Alachua County will not be tolerated.”
