A 42-year-old Palm Coast man, Michael Lee Sloan, was arrested on October 10, 2025, for reckless driving and multiple traffic citations after sending a Putnam County deputy into a ditch on Cracker Swamp Road.
Sloan had been reported repeatedly for swerving into oncoming traffic, prompting patrols from both the Putnam County and St. Johns County Sheriff’s Offices. This morning, as Sloan drove east toward Putnam County, his silver Toyota Camry veered into the path of a deputy, forcing the officer into a ditch to avoid a collision. A St. Johns County deputy clocked Sloan’s vehicle at 85 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Sloan was arrested, cited for speeding and driving too fast for conditions, and taken to the Putnam County Jail on a $150 bond. Both agencies thanked each other for their cooperation in addressing dangerous driving on the narrow rural roadway.
