JSO Arrests Man in Fatal Baymeadows DUI Crash That Killed Teacher, Toddler

Jacksonville, FL – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested 24-year-old Logan Fletcher Park in connection with a fatal crash on Baymeadows Road that claimed the lives of a local elementary school teacher and his 1-year-old son.

The crash occurred on the evening of May 16, when Mitchell Patch was crossing Baymeadows Road near San Jose Boulevard while carrying his young son, Everett. Park, who was later determined to be driving under the influence, struck Patch, killing both father and child.

After an extensive investigation by JSO Traffic Homicide detectives, Park turned himself in on Sunday. Blood tests conducted at a local hospital confirmed a blood alcohol concentration of .107, well above the legal limit.

Park has been charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter. The arrest followed a detailed review of the crash scene, witness statements, and evidence gathered in coordination with the State Attorney’s Office.

“Traffic homicide investigations often take time as detectives work to gather sufficient evidence for an arrest,” JSO said in a statement. “We are heartbroken this tragedy occurred, and our thoughts are with Mitchell and Everett’s loved ones.”

JSO reminded the public of the dangers of impaired driving, emphasizing the devastating consequences that can result. “A family has lost two precious lives, and another man now faces time in prison. Drive sober. Use a designated driver or rideshare,” the statement added.
