JSO Officer Rescues Woman From Burning Car After Violent Carjacking With Toddler Inside

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – A violent carjacking on a Sunday night ended in a fiery crash that left one woman injured and a 1-year-old temporarily trapped inside a stolen vehicle, police said.

District 4 Patrol officers responded February 8, 2026, to a report of a forceful carjacking on 103rd Street. Authorities said a suspect drove off in the stolen vehicle with the victim’s 1-year-old child still in the back seat.

Officers located the vehicle a few streets away and attempted a stop. During the encounter, the suspect crashed into another vehicle, causing a wreck that ignited both cars and left an uninvolved driver trapped inside a burning vehicle.

Officer Almin Residovic ran toward the flames and found the driver still inside with her hair on fire, according to police. He pulled her from the vehicle and began providing emergency medical aid until additional responders arrived.

At the same time, another officer removed the 1-year-old from the stolen vehicle without injury. A 14-year-old occupant of the burning car was able to escape before officers arrived.

Police arrested 34-year-old Richard Younger at the crash scene. He faces multiple felony charges, including carjacking, leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement after a crash, and false imprisonment of a child under 13 years of age.

Authorities said the injured woman is recovering and expressed gratitude for the officer’s actions.
