Ridgeview High School Senior Arrested After Loaded Gun Found in Vehicle on Campus

ORANGE PARK, FL — A Ridgeview High School student was arrested Thursday after a loaded firearm was discovered inside a vehicle parked on school property.

According to authorities, school administrators and the school resource officer received a tip on March 5, 2026, that a 12th grade male student may have had a firearm in his vehicle.

Officials conducted an administrative search of the student’s vehicle, which was parked on school grounds. During the search, a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol was located and seized by the school resource officer as evidence.

The student was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Jail.

He is charged under Florida Statute 790.115, which prohibits possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a school-sponsored event or on school property.

The law makes it illegal for a person to possess a firearm, electric weapon, destructive device, or other weapon on school grounds unless specifically authorized for school-sanctioned activities.

Authorities did not release the student’s name. The investigation remains ongoing.
