Son Arrested After Fatal Shooting of Father in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man has been arrested after police say he shot and killed his father Friday evening.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers responded just before 5:00 p.m. on March 20, 2026, to a home on Grant Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

When officers arrived, they found 50-year-old Micheal Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Homicide detectives began investigating immediately and interviewed witnesses at the scene. Authorities quickly identified the victim’s son, 26-year-old David Johnson, as the suspect.

Just after midnight on March 21, officers located and arrested David Johnson without incident.

He was taken to the Duval County Jail, where he is being held in connection with his father’s death.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
