JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A suspect already in custody has now been charged with murder in connection with the November 2025 death of a Jacksonville woman.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced that 49-year-old Joseph Undrea Anderson has been charged in the death of 58-year-old Alesa Leach.
On November 17, 2025, JSO District 5 Patrol officers responded to a home on West 14th Street near Myrtle Avenue after receiving a report of a deceased person. When officers arrived, they found Leach unresponsive and covered in blood on a mattress. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives launched an investigation and determined that Leach had an injunction against Anderson. Investigators also developed evidence placing Anderson inside the home at the time of her death.
Detectives initially obtained a warrant for Anderson for violating the injunction. He was arrested in Connecticut on December 5, 2025, and later extradited back to Jacksonville, where he remained in custody at the Duval County Jail.
As the investigation progressed, detectives gathered additional evidence and built a case. On March 20, 2026, a warrant was issued charging Anderson with Leach’s murder, along with additional charges. The warrant was served while he was already in custody.
These are the charges against him: Murder in the Second Degree, Burglary with Assault, Burglary of Occupied Dwelling, Aggravated Stalking and Tampering with Evidence.
He remains held at the Duval County Jail on no bond.
