OCALA, Fla. — A 59-year-old woman has been arrested following an investigation into a fraud scheme that diverted more than $1 million from a healthcare business, according to the Ocala Police Department.
Jean A. Gonzalez, a former employee of Ethos Health Group, is accused of redirecting patient and insurance payments into an older business account and using the funds for personal expenses over several years. The business is located in the 1500 block of Southeast 17th Street in Ocala.
The investigation began after the company reported suspicious financial activity. Detectives reviewed account records and subpoenaed banking information, ultimately determining that multiple unauthorized transactions had occurred. Authorities said the business was unaware the older account was still active.
Detective Cespedes led the investigation and made the arrest.
Police said the case highlights the importance of closely monitoring financial activity and reporting irregularities as soon as they are discovered.
The investigation remains ongoing.
