FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A Palm Coast woman was arrested Sunday night after deputies discovered multiple drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Interstate 95.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a Ford F-150 for speeding and failing to maintain its lane late April 5. During the stop, deputies asked both occupants to exit the vehicle and observed the passenger, identified as 20-year-old Brittany Cowart, attempting to conceal a plastic bag.
Deputies said items in plain view on the passenger side included tinfoil, a red straw with a burnt tip, and the bag Cowart tried to hide.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a purse belonging to Cowart containing unused syringes, a scale with residue, and a yellow pill identified as quetiapine fumarate. Investigators also located a pill organizer holding multiple substances, including small amounts of crystal-like material and powders that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine or amphetamine.
Additional pills were found in the back seat, and deputies said Cowart had a container on her person that also held a substance testing positive for methamphetamine.
After being informed of the discovery, deputies said Cowart responded, “Happy Easter.”
Cowart was arrested and charged with possession of a harmful new legend drug without a prescription, six counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is being held on a $33,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
