Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Patrol Vehicle During DUI Stop in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A driver has been arrested after crashing into a police vehicle during a DUI stop early Saturday morning, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

The incident occurred in the early hours of April 11, 2026, in the 3000 block of 3rd Street South. A police sergeant was assisting another officer with a DUI traffic stop and had positioned his patrol vehicle to block an outside lane with emergency lights activated.

Police said that shortly after the initial driver was taken into custody, another vehicle approached the scene without headlights and failed to stop despite emergency lights and audible warnings from officers.

The sergeant alerted the nearby officer that the vehicle was not stopping. Moments later, the driver crashed into the patrol vehicle, forcing the officer to dive out of the way to avoid being struck.

Authorities said no officers or civilians were injured in the incident.

The driver was taken into custody and is facing charges of driving under the influence and DUI with property damage.
