JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is facing a felony charge after authorities say she illegally dumped dozens of tires along a city roadway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
Investigators said 37-year-old Kayla Stone was identified in connection with an October 2025 incident in which a witness reported a woman unloading tires from a U-Haul truck along the right of way on West Monroe Street.
Authorities said Stone dumped approximately 40 tires before noticing the witness and driving away. As she left, additional tires reportedly fell from the truck onto the roadway.
Detectives later located the U-Haul and found Stone with nearly 100 more tires inside the vehicle that investigators believe were intended to be dumped.
Stone was arrested and charged with illegal dumping from a motor vehicle over 500 pounds, a felony offense.
The City of Jacksonville Solid Waste Division removed the remaining tires for proper disposal.
“We take littering very seriously,” said the JSO in a statement.
