Arrest Made in 2022 Fatal Crash That Killed North Carolina Man in Leesburg

LEESBURG, Fla. — A man has been arrested nearly four years after a crash in Leesburg that left a 69-year-old North Carolina man dead, following a lengthy traffic homicide investigation, according to police.

Terrance Raghoonauth, 33, of Lauderdale, Florida, was taken into custody April 26, 2026, and booked into the Lake County Detention Center on a charge of vehicular homicide.

The arrest stems from a May 14, 2022 crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Tally Road. Investigators said Kenny Ray Amdahl, 69, of Hubert, North Carolina, was driving a gold 1988 Cadillac northbound in the right lane when a silver 2019 Lexus driven by Raghoonauth, traveling in the left lane, swerved into the right lane.

Authorities said the Lexus struck the Cadillac in a front-to-rear collision, causing the Cadillac to catch fire. Amdahl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Leesburg Police Department conducted the investigation in coordination with the State Attorney’s Office and the Florida Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor. Following the investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Raghoonauth, leading to his arrest this week.

The case remains part of the ongoing judicial process.
