ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A suspect is in custody following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that led deputies to a home where multiple drugs were recovered, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies attempted to stop a speeding vehicle May 4 in the area of South Holmes Boulevard, but the driver fled. Authorities said the suspect drove to a residence on Natalie Road, exited the vehicle and ran inside while deputies pursued on foot.
During what officials described as a “fresh pursuit,” deputies forced entry into the home and apprehended the suspect. Six additional occupants inside the residence were detained.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators located approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine, 5 grams of cocaine, 0.7 grams of fentanyl, 5.3 grams of an unknown substance, and drug paraphernalia.
Brandon Maxwell, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and attempting to elude, and resisting without violence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
