ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Atlantic Beach Police Department has released additional details about its response to the July 7 stabbing on Rose Street that later became a homicide investigation.
According to the department’s incident log, officers responded within minutes after a 911 call reported the stabbing.
Police said communications received the initial emergency call at 9:07 p.m.
Patrol officers were officially dispatched one minute later at 9:08 p.m., and the first officers arrived at the scene by 9:10 p.m.
Authorities said the suspect was detained and taken into custody at approximately 9:13 p.m., just three minutes after officers arrived.
The Atlantic Beach Police Department handled the initial emergency response and secured the suspect.
After the victim later died at a hospital, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the criminal investigation, in accordance with established protocol for murder cases.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing under the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
