SATSUMA, Fla. – A 19-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting both of his parents after a domestic dispute escalated inside a Putnam County home late Friday night, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 11:16 p.m. on July 31 to a residence in the 121 block of Musket Drive in Satsuma after receiving a report that a man was threatening family members with a firearm.
The caller told dispatchers that 19-year-old Uyleses Servin had pointed a gun at her and other relatives inside the home. While still on the phone, the caller fled the residence. Moments later, dispatchers received another call reporting shots had been fired.
When deputies arrived, they found Servin outside the home holding a small child while armed with a handgun.
After deputies ordered him to drop the weapon, Servin complied. Deputies safely removed the child and took him into custody without incident.
Once the suspect was secured, deputies discovered his parents suffering from gunshot wounds in separate locations outside the residence.
Cecilia Servin, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. Miguel Servin, 51, was treated by paramedics before being transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Detectives determined an argument involving Uyleses Servin, his parents and other family members escalated before the suspect allegedly opened fire.
Authorities said two adult relatives inside the home fled as shots were being fired, believing they were also being targeted.
Investigators have not determined how Servin obtained the firearm. The medical examiner’s office is conducting autopsies on both victims.
Servin remains held without bond at the Putnam County Jail.
He is charged with two counts of homicide, two counts of shooting into an occupied building or vehicle, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of child neglect.
The sheriff’s office said additional children were inside the home during the incident but is withholding their identities, ages and genders. Investigators also indicated additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
