CLEWISTON, Fla. – A Clewiston woman has been arrested after investigators determined she illegally purchased firearms and ammunition despite being a convicted felon, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Eva Bryant, 45, was arrested on seven counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
The investigation began in January 2026 after FDLE agents received information from the agency’s Firearms Eligibility Bureau that Bryant had attempted to purchase firearms in Okeechobee County.
According to investigators, Bryant successfully purchased two firearms and two boxes of ammunition containing approximately 550 rounds each.
Authorities also determined that Bryant attempted to purchase three additional firearms but was denied.
On July 30, agents with FDLE’s Sebring Field Office and Special Operations Team executed a search warrant and arrest warrant at Bryant’s residence in Clewiston.
During the search, agents seized the two firearms and the ammunition that investigators allege Bryant had purchased illegally.
Investigators also recovered a third firearm from the residence. FDLE said additional criminal charges related to that firearm may be filed as the investigation continues.
Bryant was transported to the Hendry County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Okeechobee County to face the charges.
The Clewiston Police Department assisted FDLE during the search warrant and arrest operation.
The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 19th Judicial Circuit.
The investigation remains active.
