JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 38-year-old Jacksonville man has been arrested on a murder charge after police say he fatally stabbed his younger brother at a home in the Oceanway neighborhood.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Ryan Daniels, 30, and the suspect as his brother, Eric Mincey, 38.
The stabbing occurred Saturday, Aug. 15, at a residence on Davis Road near Finley Road in north Jacksonville.
JSO District 6 patrol officers responded to the home following a report of a stabbing and found Daniels on the front porch suffering from a serious stab wound.
First responders attempted lifesaving measures, and Daniels was transported to a local hospital. He later died from his injuries.
Detectives Identify Victim’s Brother as Suspect
Homicide detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, reviewing available evidence and interviewing witnesses.
According to JSO, investigators identified Mincey as the person responsible for stabbing Daniels.
Police have not disclosed what allegedly led to the confrontation between the brothers or provided additional details about the events immediately preceding the stabbing.
On Sunday, Aug. 16, detectives arrested Mincey on a murder charge.
He was booked into the Duval County jail, where he is being held while awaiting a court appearance.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said investigators will continue working to seek justice for Daniels and expressed condolences to his family and loved ones.
