Severe thunderstorm watch issued for parts of Florida, Georgia until 6 p.m.

More rounds of rain and strong storms are expected Thursday as the News4JAX Weather Authority Alert Day remains in effect through the evening.

At 11 a.m., the National Weather Service of Jacksonville issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Florida and Georgia, including Duval County, Nassau County, Columbia County and all of Southeast Georgia.

The timing of the storms is expected to be late morning through early afternoon for Southeast Georgia, then noon through around 4 p.m. for Northeast Florida.

Rain will move in from the west later in the day with some storms in the afternoon bringing gusty winds, possibly up to 70 mph, and over a half inch of rain. Isolated hail is also possible along with frequent lightning strikes.

Many clouds will keep temperatures in the upper 80s.

Showers and rain will stick around through about 10 p.m. with temps in the 70s.

The storms expected on Thursday follow another strong round of storms on Wednesday that left damage across our area.

More rain and storms are likely again on Friday, with some possibly becoming strong to severe.
