A 4-year-old boy has died after drowning in a pond in the Spring Park neighborhood.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 7:30 p.m. on Gerard Avenue. Police say family members removed the child from the pond.
The child was taken to a local hospital, but unfortunately did not make it.
Detectives are on scene speaking with witnesses to try and determine what happened leading up to the drowning. No foul play is suspected.
Police say the Department of Children and Families has been notified.
