Teen Arrested in Connection with 2023 Jacksonville Shooting Death

On April 9, 2024, 18-year-old Za’Qwon Walthall was arrested in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Keon Walthall, which occurred on November 17, 2023, in Jacksonville. The incident took place in the 500 block of 28th Street West, where the victim was found unresponsive in a park, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts, Keon Walthall was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives, accompanied by members of the Crime Scene Unit, initiated investigations upon their arrival. Through a review of the available evidence and interviews, it was determined that the victim had been shot and killed during an attempted armed robbery. Za’Qwon Walthall was identified as the suspect responsible for conspiring in the robbery that led to the victim’s death.

As a result, Za’Qwon Walthall was charged with Second Degree Felony Murder and two counts of Attempted Robbery on April 9, 2024.
