Clay County Man Dies After Rollover Crash During Pursuit

On the evening of September 13, 2024, members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Task Force were actively searching for Steve Randle Miracle, 33, who had an arrest warrant for residential burglary. Deputies located Miracle driving on US Highway 17 south of Green Cove Springs. Observing erratic driving that suggested impairment, they attempted a traffic stop.

Miracle deliberately tried to ram a deputy’s vehicle, prompting the deputy to take evasive action. Miracle then fled the scene, driving recklessly and at high speeds. During the pursuit on CR 209 south, Miracle lost control of his vehicle on a curve, causing it to rollover.

Clay County Fire Rescue was called to the scene, and despite life-saving efforts by deputies, Miracle was pronounced dead by rescue personnel. The Florida Highway Patrol has been contacted to conduct an independent investigation into the incident, in accordance with policy.
