Senior United States District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan has sentenced 44-year-old Jucory Randell Kirtsey to 15 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Kirtsey, who entered a guilty plea on September 5, 2024, faced an enhanced sentence due to his classification as an Armed Career Criminal.
According to court documents, on September 6, 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Kirtsey’s residence due to suspected narcotics activity. During the search, officers discovered a loaded Taurus pistol inside the home. Kirtsey later admitted to possessing the firearm, despite being prohibited from doing so under federal law due to his prior felony convictions. His criminal history includes more than 10 felony convictions related to narcotics sales and trafficking.
The investigation was carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney John Cannizzaro prosecuted the case.
