Hamilton County Sheriff Appoints Retired Investigator to Reopen Cold Cases

Hamilton County Sheriff Brian Creech has taken a significant step in addressing unsolved cases by appointing a retired investigator to oversee cold cases for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) on a voluntary basis. The announcement fulfills a promise Sheriff Creech made to families affected by unresolved cases upon taking office.

The retired investigator, who has maintained active law enforcement credentials following a lengthy career in Florida, will review all cold cases under HCSO’s jurisdiction. Utilizing modern investigative tools and technology, the investigator will evaluate whether advancements can progress these cases.

An audit has also been proposed to identify any older, unresolved cases still listed as open from prior decades.

Suwannee Valley Unsolved, Inc. expressed gratitude to Sheriff Creech for his swift action in ensuring cold cases receive renewed attention, providing hope and transparency to affected families.
