The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run that critically injured a teenage boy on January 10, 2025, in the Flagler Estates area.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., a passerby discovered the victim on Palatka Boulevard near Carpenter Avenue. The boy, who was walking to his bus stop, was struck by a vehicle and never made it to his pickup location, scheduled for 6:08 a.m. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and the victim was airlifted to a trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect vehicle sustained front-end damage, possibly including broken lens components. Authorities urged anyone traveling along Palatka Boulevard between 5:45 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. or residents with exterior cameras in the area to review footage and contact the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 904-209-1544 or email crimetips@sjso.org.
On January 12, investigators announced that they had identified and interviewed the suspect and seized the vehicle involved. While the investigation remains active, no additional details have been released to maintain the case’s integrity.
