Suspect Arrested After Armed Burglary and High-Speed Fleeing in Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested 27-year-old Ervin Michael following an armed burglary that occurred early on January 12, 2025, in the 4700 block of Orange Haven Place.

At approximately 12:40 a.m., the victim noticed a suspect trespassing on their property. When confronted, the suspect, wearing a ski mask and carrying a large bag, fled toward a nearby vehicle. HCSO’s Aviation Section quickly responded, tracking the suspect’s vehicle as it fled into Polk County at high speeds. Deputies followed the suspect to a residence on the 5200 block of Wood Thrush Way in Lakeland, where they executed a search warrant in collaboration with the Lakeland Police Department.

The search resulted in the recovery of stolen items, including a firearm, wallets, designer handbags, cash, and a ripped passport. Michael was taken into custody at the Polk County Jail and faces multiple charges, including Armed Burglary of a Conveyance, Felony Fleeing to Elude While Wearing a Mask, Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance While Wearing a Mask, and Grand Theft Firearm.

Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the quick and coordinated efforts of the deputies, Aviation Unit, and Lakeland PD in swiftly bringing the suspect to justice. The investigation is ongoing.
