Woman Shot in Head During Road Rage Incident on I-595; Shooter Sought

A woman is recovering after being shot in the head during a road rage incident on Interstate 595 Friday night. Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) are asking for the public’s help to identify the shooter.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:51 p.m. on Friday, January 10, in the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 near Hiatus Road. Davie Police, Davie Fire Rescue, and the Florida Highway Patrol initially responded to the scene, with BSO’s VCU and Crime Scene Unit later taking over the investigation.

According to investigators, Rondrica Davis was a passenger in a Ford Escape traveling in the far-left westbound lane of I-595 when a black pickup truck approached at a high speed. The driver of the Escape attempted to allow the truck to pass. However, the truck maneuvered in front of the Escape, abruptly slowed down, and suddenly braked.

The truck’s driver then pulled alongside the Escape and fired a shot, striking Davis in the head. After the shooting, the truck sped off westbound.

Davis was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was treated and later released.

Detectives are urging anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting to contact BSO Detective Brittany Armstrong at 954-321-4888 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or by dialing **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the U.S. A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
