The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a second individual in connection with the December 27, 2024, shooting of an off-duty ATF agent in Riverview.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:07 p.m. at The Alley at Southshore, located at 10221 Big Bend Road. Investigators identified 23-year-old Tia Heyward as an accomplice who aided the shooting suspect after the incident.
On January 15, 2025, Heyward was taken into custody following the issuance of an arrest warrant. She faces multiple charges, including:
- Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm, Great Bodily Harm (Accessory After the Fact)
- Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm/Death (Accessory After the Fact)
- Two counts of Simple Battery
Sheriff Chad Chronister commented on the case, stating, “Our detectives have worked tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for this senseless act of violence are held accountable and face the consequences of their actions. Our prayers remain with the ATF agent as he courageously embarks on his road to recovery. His bravery and selflessness exemplify his dedication to protecting our community.”
The investigation remains active.
