A 69-year-old woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of financially exploiting an elderly couple in Naples, Florida. The investigation, conducted by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), revealed that Lynn Marie Keller had stolen over $100,000 in jewelry, cash, and a new car from the victims.
On Friday, Collier County Circuit Judge Elizabeth Krier sentenced Keller to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of probation with special conditions. Keller was also ordered to pay $112,000 in restitution to the victims. A jury found Keller guilty of nine counts of exploitation of the elderly after a weeklong trial in December.
The charges stemmed from incidents reported in 2019, when CCSO learned that jewelry, a car, and personal banking documents were stolen from the couple, which included an 81-year-old woman in hospice care and her 87-year-old husband in a skilled nursing facility. Keller forged the victim’s name on the title for a new Kia Sorrento and transferred it to herself as a “gift” while the woman was in a coma. She also drained funds from the couple’s accounts and forged checks in their names.
After the female victim’s death, Keller took many items from the couple’s home and fled. She also instructed a friend of the victim to withhold information about the death from the victim’s son. Keller was arrested in 2021 in Monroe County following the investigation.
Sheriff Kevin Rambosk praised the diligent work of the detectives and the successful prosecution, ensuring that Keller will no longer be able to exploit vulnerable members of the community.
