Jacksonville Man Convicted of Murder and Multiple Attempted Murders in 2020 Shootings

Florida State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that a Duval County jury has found Roland Ball II guilty of First-Degree Murder, four counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, one count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, two counts of Shooting or Throwing Deadly Missiles, and one count of Harassing a Witness, Victim, or Informant. Ball now faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison, with formal sentencing to be determined by Judge Meredith Charbula.

The charges stem from two separate shootings in March 2020. On March 18, gunmen fired into a vehicle on Portsmouth Avenue with four occupants inside. Ball was identified as one of the shooters in that attempted murder.

The following evening, at approximately 7 p.m., 17-year-old Inandi Wyche was driving with a male passenger when they stopped at a stop sign on Portsmouth Avenue. Multiple gunshots were fired at their vehicle. The male victim managed to escape, but Wyche, who was not involved in gang activity, was fatally shot.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joe Licandro, Alan Mizrahi, and Giovanna Rivera.
