High-Speed Racing Suspected in Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash in Pompano Beach

A suspected street race led to a fatal three-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach on Friday, January 31, 2025, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Traffic Homicide Unit.

At approximately 5:26 p.m., BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to a collision near the 1300 block of South Ocean Drive. Investigators determined that 43-year-old Julius Clark, of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, was driving a 2024 Mercedes-Benz C450 northbound on North Ocean Boulevard, allegedly engaged in an illegal car race.

At the same time, a 2021 Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on South Ocean Boulevard, with a 2020 Audi Q3 driven by Ross Parker following behind it.

According to witness statements, Clark was weaving in and out of traffic at high speed before entering the center divider turn lane, where he encountered a stopped cement truck. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Clark swerved left, crossing into oncoming traffic, where he struck the Nissan head-on. The impact pushed the Nissan backward into the Audi driven by Parker.

Emergency responders transported both the Nissan driver and Parker to Broward Health North for treatment. The Nissan driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital, while Parker was treated and released.

Authorities have not disclosed whether Clark will face criminal charges as the investigation remains ongoing.
