Man Calls 911 After Fatally Shooting Wife in Port Charlotte

A Port Charlotte man was arrested after calling 911 to report that he had shot and killed his wife during an argument about infidelity, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence at 13284 Holtville Avenue following a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller, identified as 46-year-old Rogelio Prestol, told dispatchers that he had shot his wife during an argument.

Deputies arrived and found 40-year-old Jhesandra Prestol deceased inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound. Two juveniles were also inside the residence at the time of the shooting but were unharmed.

Rogelio Prestol was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Authorities have not released details regarding the type of firearm used or how many shots were fired.

“There are no words to express how terrible this is or the impact it will have on so many lives. The act itself is despicable, and only made worse by the fact that there were children in the home at the time. My heart breaks for them and for everyone who knew Jhesandra. Domestic violence of any kind is disgusting, and I pray that anyone who is experiencing it sees this and realizes that this is a possible outcome. To those people, please know that you are not alone, and help is available. Don’t wait until this happens to you,” said Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell.

Prestol was transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where he is being held without bond on a murder charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
