On February 12, 2025, Ocala Police Department ICAC Detective Ridge arrested 38-year-old James Michael McLeroy for possessing child sexual abuse material.
The arrest followed an investigation initiated by a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which alerted authorities to the possibility that McLeroy was storing child sexual abuse material on an electronic device.
During the execution of a search warrant at McLeroy’s residence, police discovered multiple files of child sexual abuse material on his computer and cellphone.
McLeroy was arrested and charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography.
ICAC investigations often involve extensive efforts to gather evidence, including subpoenaing service providers, executing search warrants, and conducting thorough interviews. These investigations can be complex and time-consuming, requiring weeks or months to bring perpetrators to justice.
