A Collier County jury found 21-year-old Luigi Roca guilty on Tuesday of supplying fentanyl that led to a 15-year-old’s non-fatal overdose in 2023.
Roca, a convicted felon, faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing on April 17. He was convicted of conspiracy to sell/deliver a controlled substance to a minor following a two-day trial in Collier County Circuit Court.
The case stems from an incident on November 16, 2023, when the 15-year-old victim overdosed after purchasing what they believed were Percocet pills. An investigation by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s (CCSO) Vice & Narcotics Bureau revealed that Roca and another man had negotiated the sale of the pills, which were determined to be fentanyl disguised as prescription oxycodone.
The victim was treated by Collier County EMS and released from an NCH Healthcare System emergency room.
Sheriff Kevin Rambosk emphasized the CCSO’s commitment to combating fentanyl through the “Laced & Lethal” fentanyl awareness and prevention campaign.
“The jury’s verdict is a testament to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s zero-tolerance stance against this deadly opioid and the individuals who peddle it,” Sheriff Rambosk said. “For anyone thinking of selling fentanyl in Collier County, I have one message for you: We will find you and we will hold you accountable.”
Sheriff Rambosk also thanked the State Attorney’s Office for their work on the investigation and prosecution of the case.
