Bradenton Business Owner Charged with Defrauding Customers, Misappropriating Funds

A nearly year-long investigation by the Bradenton Police Department led to the arrest of Jeremy DeMers, 45, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. DeMers, the owner of Gulf View Windows and Doors (GVWD), formerly located at 2620 Manatee Ave W, faces charges of misappropriating construction funds ($100,000 or more) and scheming to defraud ($50,000 or more), both first-degree felonies.

DeMers took over GVWD in early 2023 after his brother, Jordan, was diagnosed with cancer. Jordan passed away in April 2024. Shortly after, in late April 2024, Detective Michael Carpenter began investigating complaints from Buky Construction and Easton Construction, who reported that GVWD had failed to fulfill their orders, resulting in liens being placed on their properties.

Investigators determined that between October 2023 and March 2024, the two companies paid approximately $792,383 to GVWD for products made by E.S. Construction. While DeMers placed orders with the manufacturer, he did not pay for them, instead transferring the funds into multiple business and personal accounts.

Financial subpoenas revealed that DeMers maintained at least 21 accounts across institutions such as Bank OZK, SoFi, Fifth Third Bank, and American Express. From August 2023 to November 2024, he moved customer funds from GVWD accounts into personal and payroll accounts, using the money for travel, gambling, and digital currency investments. He spent $19,554 on airline tickets, at least $200,000 on gambling, and made several ATM withdrawals at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, along with spa and gift shop purchases.

Detective Carpenter obtained arrest warrants for DeMers in March 2025. After being contacted, DeMers agreed to meet at Bradenton Police Department headquarters, where he was taken into custody.
