Following an investigation that began with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) arrested 36-year-old Daniel Reginald Hanna on Thursday, April 8, 2025.
The NCMEC CyberTip, received in early 2024, indicated that a user of a cloud storage service had uploaded and shared images of child sexual abuse. GPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Detective Donna Montague identified Hanna, residing at 110 NW 39th Ave, Apt 124A in Gainesville, FL, as the likely suspect.
On March 13, 2025, a search warrant was executed at Hanna’s residence. During the initial contact, Hanna confirmed identifiers linked to the suspect account. Upon being informed about the NCMEC CyberTip, he requested an attorney and then fled on foot, not to be seen again that day.
The search of Hanna’s residence yielded numerous electronic devices and a child-like sex doll torso dressed in children’s size six underwear, along with other pairs of children’s underwear.
Forensic analysis of at least two of Hanna’s devices uncovered over 2,550 images and videos of child sexual abuse material. The content included depictions of bestiality, pubescent and prepubescent children, some involving BDSM and violence against children.
Daniel R Hanna was arrested and charged with 12 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 2 counts of Possession of Sexual Activities Involving Animals.
The Gainesville Police Department is urging parents to be aware of the dangers of online solicitation and exploitation of children through social networking and messaging apps. They encourage age-appropriate conversations with children about internet safety and vigilance regarding their online activities. Anyone with questions about this incident can contact GPD Detective Donna Montague at 352-393-7730 or montagueda@cityofgainesville.org.
