Northeast Florida Lands Two ‘Deals of the Year’ with $245M Investment and 550 New Jobs

Two significant Northeast Florida projects, representing a combined investment of $245 million and a projected 550 new jobs, have been recognized as “Deals of the Year” by the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC). The awards were announced last week at the FEDC annual conference in Port Charlotte.

JAXUSA Partnership received the Regional Deal of the Year for HOLON, a planned 500,000-square-foot autonomous vehicle manufacturing facility in Jacksonville. St. Johns County was honored with the Urban Deal of the Year for the Publix central fill pharmaceutical facility.

“These are two prime examples of the growth we’re seeing in Northeast Florida and how companies see the value in our business-friendly climate and strong regional partnerships,” said JAXUSA Partnership President Aundra Wallace.

HOLON, a subsidiary of global automotive supplier BENTELER Group, specializes in autonomous, electric shuttles designed for shared mobility and sustainable transportation. The company announced its plans in September 2024 to construct a $100 million facility in Jacksonville, expected to create an initial 150 jobs and bolster the city’s role in the growing autonomous vehicle industry.

The Publix central fill pharmaceutical facility in St. Johns County is slated to become operational in 2026. Located within the Legend Point Logistics Crossing industrial park in a 168,480-square-foot building, the $145 million investment will initially employ 150 people, with plans to expand to 400 employees. The facility is projected to fill 500,000 prescriptions weekly upon opening and up to 1 million weekly at full capacity.

“St. Johns County is proud to receive this recognition from the Florida Economic Development Council. Economic development is a team sport, and the Publix project highlights the power and importance of working collaboratively to find creative solutions that benefit our community,” stated Sam Camp, St. Johns County Senior Project Manager.
