Woman Arrested in Road Rage Shooting in Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman involved in a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at approximately 2:19 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of South Hilltop Road and West Brandon Boulevard in Brandon. Upon arrival, deputies located 21-year-old Aiden Richards suffering from a gunshot wound. Richards was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to her lower body.

According to investigators, both parties involved had stopped at a red light when an altercation ensued. Richards allegedly fired a gun at the other vehicle, striking it multiple times. The driver of the second vehicle returned fire, striking Richards.

Following the investigation, Richards was charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon (2 counts)
  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Firearm – Discharge (2 counts)
  • Shooting at or Into a Vehicle (2 counts)

“This kind of behavior is dangerous, irresponsible, and could have easily ended in tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Using a firearm because you’re angry behind the wheel is beyond unacceptable. We will not allow this kind of chaos on our roadways, and those who choose violence will face serious consequences.”

The investigation remains active.
