On Sunday afternoon, June 22nd, Flagler County deputies arrested Joshua Saidi, 39, of Palm Coast, following a domestic disturbance call on Grand Avenue. Saidi faces charges of felony battery, domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment, and is being held on a $45,000 bond at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
The investigation revealed that an argument between Saidi and the female victim began the night before at a separate location after he reportedly began drinking heavily and accusing her of an affair while taking her cell phone. The dispute continued into the next morning at the Grand Avenue residence, where the victim used a laptop to document the abuse.
Deputies determined that during the argument, Saidi allegedly obtained a large knife, causing the victim to fear for her life. He also reportedly struck her in the face multiple times while attempting to take the laptop. When the victim tried to retreat to a bedroom, Saidi allegedly pushed open the door, striking her and blocking her escape.
Saidi is known to law enforcement in Volusia County, with a criminal history including burglary, battery, theft, and drug possession.
Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the incident, stating, “This case is an example of how dangerous a domestic argument can become. Our deputies responded quickly to deescalate the situation. Domestic abuse has no place in our community, and we will continue to hold abusers accountable.”
