Detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, in coordination with Leesburg, Clermont, Eustis, Mt. Dora, and Groveland Police Departments, concluded a six-month investigation into a drug trafficking network operating out of the Leesburg area.
The investigation, which began after a citizen complaint, identified 22-year-old Jartavious Dwyane Coleman as the primary target. Coleman, who was on probation for cocaine possession, was found to be distributing methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and cannabis across Lake, Sumter, Marion, and Putnam counties.
Law enforcement executed multiple search warrants with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and the Mid-Florida SWAT Team, seizing approximately 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 ounces of cocaine, 1 ounce of fentanyl, 4 pounds of cannabis, clandestine oxycodone pills, and nine firearms, including two stolen locally. The street value of the narcotics seized is estimated at $20,000.
Coleman was arrested and faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit trafficking in methamphetamine over 200 grams, trafficking in methamphetamine over 200 grams, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and multiple related felony counts.
Due to the seriousness of the charges and his probation status, Coleman was granted no bond during his first court appearance. Additional arrest warrants are pending as the investigation continues.
