Jacksonville Beach Man Facing Over 50 Charges After AI-Generated Child Exploitation Probe

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL — A three-month investigation into illegal digital content has resulted in the arrest of a local man on more than 50 felony and misdemeanor counts, including pioneering charges related to AI-generated exploitation. Spencer Patton, of Jacksonville Beach, was taken into custody on April 17, 2026, and is currently being held at the Duval County Jail.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Jacksonville Beach Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, working as part of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Digital Trail on Social Media

The case began in January 2026 after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) flagged a cyber tip involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being uploaded to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Detectives tracked the digital activity to Patton’s residence at 1655 The Greens Way.

On March 25, a multi-agency team, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and patrol officers, executed a search warrant at the home. During the initial preview of seized electronic devices, Patton was immediately arrested for Possession of Child Pornography.

New Charges: AI-Generated Content and Animal Abuse

While Patton was initially detained in March, investigators spent several weeks conducting deep-dive forensic downloads of the seized hardware. On April 17, following a comprehensive review by the FDLE, the State Attorney’s Office signed a new arrest warrant adding a staggering list of charges:

  • AI-Generated Exploitation (10 Counts): Patton is among the first in the region to be charged under Florida Statute 827.072, which specifically criminalizes the creation or possession of computer-generated images that portray fictitious minors engaged in sexual conduct.
  • Animal Sexual Activities: He faces charges under Florida Statute 828.126(2)(E) for the possession of pornographic images or videos involving a person and an animal.
  • Transmission of Material: Additional charges were added for the transmission of illegal material using an electronic device.

Legal Status and Public Safety

Patton remains in custody with a combined bond set at $180,063.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department emphasized that the use of AI technology to generate exploitation material represents an evolving threat that the ICAC Task Force is specifically trained to identify. This investigation remains active as authorities work to ensure no other platforms or victims were involved.
