MORRISTON, FL — A 36-year-old Morriston man has been booked into the Levy County Detention Center on a $350,000 bond after a four-month investigation into juvenile sexual misconduct uncovered a hidden cache of child exploitation material on his mobile device.
Peter William Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. He currently faces 14 separate felony counts, with investigators warning that additional charges are imminent.
Initial Abuse Complaint Sparks Phone Forensics
The criminal investigation began on February 11, 2026, when patrol deputies and detectives responded to an emergency report alleging that an adult male had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a local minor.
Detectives Joe Barrera and Cody Weaver took over the file and quickly identified Jacobs as the primary suspect. During an initial, specialized interview with the juvenile victim, the minor provided a detailed statement outlining a pattern of physical sexual misconduct.
Based on the victim’s timeline, Detectives Barrera and Weaver secured a court-authorized search warrant targeting Jacobs’s cellular phone to look for corroborating digital communication logs.
Cyber Analysts Extract 14 Exploitation Files
When digital forensic technicians executed a bit-stream extraction and data analysis on the seized cell phone, the scope of the investigation expanded into the digital space. Cyber analysts bypassed security protocols and uncovered a hidden gallery containing multiple files and images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Armed with both the physical assault statements from the minor and the newly discovered digital evidence, detectives secured a multi-count felony arrest warrant.
$350,000 Total Bond Imposed Pretrial
Jacobs was tracked down on June 9, taken into custody without incident, and processed into the county jail. He has been formally charged with:
- 14 Counts: Possession of Obscene Child Sexual Conduct Material (F.S. 827.071(5))
During his initial court appearance, the presiding judge assigned a severe $25,000 bond to each individual count, culminating in a total bond structure of $350,000. Jacobs remains confined at the Levy County Detention Center pending his formal arraignment.
The Levy County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation remains highly active. Forensic analysts are continuing a deep-dive extraction of Jacobs’s unindexed application data, cloud backups, and internet search histories, and further charges are expected to be filed through the State Attorney’s Office as additional data is verified.
