Jacksonville Man Arrested for DUI After Deputies Find Three Young Children in Vehicle

CALLAHAN, Fla. — A Jacksonville man was arrested on multiple charges after deputies say he was driving recklessly while under the influence with three young children in his vehicle.

According to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on June 12, 2026, to a reported domestic incident in Callahan involving 37-year-old Travis Elliot Lewis.

The victim reported being assaulted by Lewis before deputies located him driving in the area.

Investigators said Lewis was observed traveling at high speeds and driving recklessly before deputies conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, deputies discovered three young children inside the vehicle, including two 2-year-olds and a 3-month-old infant.

Lewis was taken into custody and transported to the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center.

According to the sheriff’s office, Lewis provided breath samples measuring 0.123 and 0.121, both significantly above Florida’s legal blood alcohol limit of 0.08.

Lewis was charged with Driving Under the Influence, three counts of DUI with a person under 18 years of age in the vehicle, and Reckless Driving.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the domestic incident investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
