Jacksonville Man Charged With Murder in 2025 Fatal Shooting on Brentwood Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last year on Brentwood Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

On Nov. 1, 2025, District 1 Patrol officers responded to a business near Brentwood Avenue and Golfair Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Kenance Bronson II suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bronson, who had celebrated his 38th birthday four days earlier, was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit launched an investigation and spent several months gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.

Through those investigative efforts, detectives identified 30-year-old Shawn Elijah Walker as a person of interest and ultimately named him as the suspect in Bronson’s killing.

Detectives arrested Walker on June 16, 2026. He was booked into the Duval County Jail at approximately 4:48 p.m. and charged with murder.

Walker was already facing multiple felony charges stemming from separate arrests earlier this year.

According to jail and court records, Walker was arrested on Jan. 11, 2026, and charged with Battery Causing Bodily Harm-Domestic Violence, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Cocaine.

The following day, additional charges were filed, including two counts of Trafficking in MDMA, two counts of Possession of Cannabis With Intent to Sell, Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Oxycodone and Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

Those cases remain pending, and Walker is awaiting trial.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said detectives remain committed to seeking justice for Bronson and his family.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
