The transformation of Downtown Jacksonville continued Thursday, May 29, with the official groundbreaking of a major development at 425 Beaver Street. The project marks the second significant construction effort by Gateway Jax under the ambitious Pearl Square initiative.
The $2 billion Pearl Square project is set to redevelop more than 20 city blocks, bringing new momentum to the urban core. Thursday’s ceremony follows last year’s groundbreaking of 515 Pearl, another key component in the downtown revitalization plan.
“This moment represents far more than the construction of a single building,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “It’s about building momentum, building community, and building a bold, inclusive, and vibrant future for the Jacksonville we all believe in.”
Pearl Square is one of several “I Dig Jax” projects underway to reshape the city’s downtown and nearby neighborhoods. More information about these developments is available at jacksonville.gov/idigjax.
