A juvenile boy inside the residence escaped and provided critical information that helped deputies secure the scene. Authorities believed 37-year-old Michael Lee McClellan was armed and had possibly shot and injured a woman inside, who was thought to be held hostage.

After securing the scene, SWAT found a deceased adult female inside the home, believed to be the victim.

Sheriff David Vincent described the situation as emotional and dangerous but praised the teams for preventing further loss of life. The sheriff’s office also thanked Citrus County Fire Rescue and Marion County SWAT for their assistance.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional details, including charges against McClellan, will be released when available.
