On the evening of Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) Criminal Investigations Division, Drug Task Force, and FOCUS Unit located a vehicle believed to be occupied by wanted suspect Trever Strawder. Detectives had reason to believe Strawder was armed and tied to recent violent crimes outside of the county.
Detective Clayton Litzkow attempted a traffic stop on a gray Nissan Altima in the 3300 block of SW Williston Road. While the vehicle initially stopped, Strawder fled as the detective approached, colliding with another motorist before speeding away.
ASO deputies initiated tactical measures to stop the fleeing vehicle, but Strawder rammed into a law enforcement unit before his car became disabled. He exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area on foot, ignoring multiple lawful commands. An ASO K-9 apprehended Strawder shortly after.
Deputies recovered a bag from Strawder containing items believed to be tied to ongoing criminal investigations. Additional charges are expected.
Strawder was arrested on charges of:
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Resisting Without Violence
- Driving While License Suspended/Revoked
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash
- Three active warrants (two for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and one for Battery on Specified Personnel)
Strawder has prior prison sentences in Florida for Robbery with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Battery on Law Enforcement.
The Sheriff’s Office credited quick teamwork and assistance from the Gainesville Police Department for ensuring Strawder’s capture without further harm to the public.
