SWAT Team Uses Explosive Breach During Drug Raid at Suwannee County Motel

Live Oak, FL — Suwannee County deputies arrested two people early Thursday morning after executing a narcotics search warrant at a motel in Live Oak.

According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, the operation took place during the early morning hours of March 5, 2026, at the Royal Inn Motel on U.S. Highway 129 and Hamilton Avenue.

Investigators identified the primary suspect as Chester Chaires of Live Oak, who was wanted in connection with multiple drug law violations.

Due to Chaires’ extensive criminal history and information suggesting weapons could be inside the room, investigators obtained a “no-knock” search warrant and deployed the sheriff’s office SWAT team to execute the operation.

Authorities said the SWAT team used an explosive breaching device to force entry through the metal-framed motel room door.

Inside the room, deputies found Chaires and a woman identified as Lauren Woodruff. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Suwannee County Jail.

During the search of the room, investigators reported seizing more than $2,300 in cash along with several ounces of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and fentanyl.

Officials said both suspects are facing multiple drug-related charges.

During the operation, deputies also used an unmanned aerial system (UAS) drone to monitor the scene. The drone pilot captured aerial video of the entry and breach, showing the coordinated effort by law enforcement during the warrant execution.

The sheriff’s office said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activity and improve safety in the community.
