Convicted Felon Arrested For Attacking Pregnant Woman During Hawthorne Robbery

ALACHUA COUNTY, Florida – A 42-year-old man with a criminal history was arrested Sunday night after deputies say he assaulted a pregnant woman during a robbery in Hawthorne.

During the evening hours of March 15, 2026, deputies responded to a residence in the 22000 block of Southeast 65th Lane following a report of a robbery. The caller reported that a man had stolen a phone and pushed the victim against a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they made contact with the victim and witnesses. The victim, who is pregnant, told deputies the incident began as a verbal dispute with the suspect, identified as James Timothy Ivey III, before escalating into violence.

According to investigators, Ivey grabbed the victim and threw her onto a vehicle, shattering the windshield. He then fled the scene.

Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s account, and deputies observed significant damage to the vehicle’s windshield consistent with the reported assault.

Deputies initially attempted to locate Ivey at a residence he is known to frequent but were unsuccessful. Shortly after, they received information that he had returned to the original location. Deputies canvassed the area and located Ivey near Southeast 74th Lane and Southeast 226th Way, where he was detained.

Following the investigation, Ivey was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery on a Pregnant Victim.

Authorities noted Ivey is a convicted felon with prior charges including cocaine possession, grand theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and fleeing law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing.
